Preparing you for Irrigation
To help our farmers make the best-informed decision about developing their farm business with irrigation, HWP is working closely with agri-professionals and rural bankers servicing the Hurunui District. We will be holding a further PDS-focussed information session in early June.
Gary Walton, Walton Farm Consulting , is holding ‘fireside/kitchen table’ meetings with farmer shareholders throughout Command Area to discuss irrigation options. If you wish to know when / where the next of these meetings is please call Gary on 0274 964700.
If you are in the Command Area but not yet an HWP shareholder please call Gary.
We’ve compiled a list of rural/agri-professionals with whom you can discuss, one-on-one, your irrigation options and work out a plan – click (Agri-Advisors), follow the website links to check out what each company does, and give them a call.

HWP Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for the issue of Water Right Shares
Issue date: 1 June 2018
Close date: 16 July 2018
Hurunui District Council is giving consideration to the purchase of shares in the Hurunui Water Project.
In 2017 HDC decided to include the potential purchase of up to $500,000 of HWP shares in the Annual Plan 2017-18. This provisional decision was subject to due diligence and additional public consultation being undertaken.
The due diligence step was completed and no impediment found to the council completing the purchase of the HWP shares on offer. At its meeting of 22 February 2018 the council resolved to complete the share purchase subject to suitable terms being reached with HWP on purchase details and further community consultation being undertaken.
Public meetings were held in four North Canterbury townships between 26 March – 4 April (see HWP public meeting presentation).
Submissions were invited from Hurunui District rate-payers and interested parties and submission hearings then took place over the 3 days of 17th-19th April.
We now await the Council’s final decision.
